Have you considered a Co-Pilot Ceremony?
Is there anything more special than your best friend, sibling or parent who knows your love story better than anyone? If this sounds like you, then you may consider a co-pilot ceremony. This allows the person who knows you the best, to play a special part in your wedding, without the pressure of the legal side.
What is a Co-Pilot Ceremony?
This is where someone close to you helps run your ceremony, and provides the personal touch of a loved one’s voice. During a Co-Pilot ceremony, my focus is to take care of the legal requirements and to ensure everything is done properly under the Marriage Act.
During a Co-Pilot ceremony, someone close to you may share a love story, welcome guests and set the tone, introduce a reading or poem, or lead a special moment or ritual.
The legal side
There are some parts of your ceremony that must be performed by an authorised celebrant, including:
The monitum
The legal minimum vows
Declaration of marriage and no legal impediment (DONLI)
Signing the marriage certificate and legal paperwork with your witnesses (over 18)
Why couples love it
A Co-Pilot ceremony is all about the two of you, and sometimes the best way to tell your story is to share it with someone who has been there from the beginning. This can work beautifully for elopements, micro weddings and full ceremonies.
